8:03p Boston's Reed Waddle WINS! Fourth Annual New York Songwriters Circle Contest
New York, November 24, 2009 - Boston singer/songwriter and guitarist Reed Waddle can add another notch to his guitar strap after his Grand Prize winning performance at the New York Songwriters Circles (www.songwriters-circle.com) fourth annual Songwriting Contest finale at the venerable Bitter End. Reed's soulful performance of his single "Piece By Piece" brought New York's music faithful to their feet and ultimately captured the votes of the blue ribbon panel of judges assembled. "I am so thrilled to have even be selected as a finalist," said Reed Waddle. "To win such a prestigious contest is a dream come true and to be honest it really has not settled in yet, I am truly elated. I can't say enough about the New York Songwriters Circle, it is rare that you meet so many amazing musicians."

3:29p Best Singing Guides
Hello everyone,
I know generally I hate the posts from people who join a community looking for help straight off the bat, but I'm going to be a complete hypocrite in this case. At least I'm honest.
There's an independent film that replied to my audition inquiry and seems to have some interest in me because I look versatile. The problem is that singing, I discovered, is integral to the character. I have had no formal singing lessons, and I know it's possible to get some bad habits. Are there any singing guides in particular, online, in store, wherever, that I should look at? Are there any tricks that you guys can give me to essentially "fake it," aka. do something different with my voice that might not be classically kosher but could make me sound better than I am?
I get some bad allergies so sometimes I feel like I can't get the notes on pitch as well. I'm not entirely certain what my range is, but I'd think it'd be maybe around Jónsi from Sigur Rós or Tori Amos (maybe a touch lower). Maybe I could get away with saying I'm influenced by Bjork? (Wishful thinking....)
If anyone can give me any help at all, that would be greatly appreciated. Again, I apologize for leaving a post like this. If I need to upload a sample of me singing to help out, I could do that. I'd really like a good shot at getting the role of the supporting lead female. I know some of you might wonder why I'm still hoping that they don't nix the audition and am still thinking about that character, but I'm unemployed right now and also would love to be on film. It has been a desire since childhood.
Thank you in advance.
